Cas Scaman (she/her/hers) was first elected to the OPALGA+ board in 2023 and was made co-chair of the board in 2024. Having grown up in Oak Park, she was always aware of the work OPALGA+ did, but wasn’t actively involved until 2021. She has served on many committees during her time on the board, most recently heading up the Gala Committee. As a public school teacher, she is very passionate about the work the scholarship fund does in helping students reach the goal of higher education. One of her goals on the board has been to expand OPALGA+’s outreach to younger members of the LGBTQIA+ community in the area and as such, she has played an active role in throwing events such as the Pride Kick-Off Party at Fitzgerald’s, the Forest Park Pride Fest, and the Out at Bobby’s events.
